Guest speakers Mr. Craig Smith, Ms. Lorry James, and Dr. Cliff Morris. They are all recognized as local African American community leaders whom are looking for change and ways to help youth.
Mr. Craig Smith: Siemens Energy quality management and aerospace engineer previously for Lockheed Martin, Hughes Aircraft, and Ford Aerospace.
Ms. Lorry James: Licensed Mental Health Counselor with the Florida Orange County Public School System. Founded a not for profit organization called Powerteens in 2014 to make a difference in the lives of youth in Orlando, Florida’s most distressed communities. The program teaches youth the value of having purpose, goals, career preparation, self-respect, and community awareness.
Dr. Cliff Morris: Retired professor and dean of the Department of Mathematics for 30 years at Valencia College of Orlando, Florida. Dr Morris travels annually to Cape Town, South Africa to teach mathematics at Portland High School in Mitchell’s Plain. He also co-founded Volunteer Education Support 4 Africa (BES4A), a South African Section 21 not-for-profit company and, with Portland colleagues launching an ongoing exchange program for the teachers and students of the high schools in Cape Town
